MBWC VIDEO ENTRY – We’re with McReedy – The ballad of Winnie Lynn

Posted on 08. May, 2010 by mikeyk in Downhill Rock 'n' Roll Entries, Recent Music

We’re with McReedy was born of a few different bands and musicians. In a nutshell our singer and Guitarist Al, used to play with Strathaven’s legendary Loupin’ larry for many years until they inexplicably split up. Not to be stopped, Al and Bob (who had been hanging around for a while) scooped up the amps and other gear and decided to give it a whirl themselves. Allan had ben playing guitar with Loupin’ Larry for around 5-6 years before they split up, giving a welcome edge to some old tunes and contrubuting new material too, however internal wrangles saw to the end of the band in rather dramatic circumstances. see the phrasology “spitting out one’s dummy” for full details. Probably a good thing as I probably would not be writing this otherwise? Robert was always hanging around the band, invaluble at gigs and a great help that was often overlooked. He started playing guitar justa few years ago and has come on very quickly. Always on Al’s case to “do something” whilst Al takled crap about “leaving the band” he finally got his rocks of when Larry split, so here we are. David Crighton (drummer) was waiting around in the wings for a gig with Loupin’ Larry too, after the drummer we had went AWOL. He twiddled his sticks for a good few months, but was ultimately spared the punishing rehearsal shedule that the band ruthlessly stuck to when they dis-banded. Dave, simply by default just went with Al and Bob, that just left a bassist. “rusty” Raymond Mcallister played bass in Lucretia Choir, a metal band from Glasgow, that seemed to dissolve much the way that Al’s previous band did.
